Dodgers pull out the brooms on the Phils, win 3-1
Kuroda has been inconsistent for most of the year and I didn’t think he would have a good outing today against the Phils power bats. But I guess he’s about to start another hot streak. He will definitely be aided by pitching against the likes of the Giants and the Padres. But Kuroda’s shtick has been that he’s great at home while he struggles on the road. I hope he can keep it up as Penny looks like he might be done. But today’s win helped the Blue keep pace with the D’backs for 1st place in the NL West.
On the other hand, the Phils looked really bad this series. It comes down to pitching to win down the stretch, and the Phillies look like they might not have enough of it. Hammels is nice, but everyone else does not come close to being productive. The Blanton trade has also been a bust. The Marlins missed their chance to take the division with Manny, even though I believe they wouldn’t have won it all with him. But the NL East looks like it’s going to the Mets.
The good: Kuroda was magnificent.
The bad: Oh no! Has Manny gone cold?
The ugly: Loney stole a base?
