Dodger Hitters V. Phil Pitchers
This is going to be how the Dodgers are going to be competitive in this series. They most definitely need to hit and hit a lot. The Phil pitchers are going to be Hamels, Myers, Moyer, and Blanton. Hamels is going to be a tough lefty matchup, especially for the young lefties in Ethier, Loney, and Dewitt. Even though he is a righty, Kemp is going to struggle also. It’s going to be up to Martin, Manny, and Blake to try to muster something against Hamels. But the player that might be useful may actually be Jeff Kent. He provides a vet bat and a righty against the ace in Hamels. Myers is a hard-throwing talented righty, but I believe Ethier and Loney will matchup up well against him. Game 2 is going to be a key game here, and which young pitcher, Myers or Billingsley, comes through will eventually dictate the series. The backend of each rotation shapes out very nicely for the Dodgers. I’m not sold on Moyer or Blanton at all. They are vets all right, but they don’t have dominating stuff and are certainly hittable. If the Blue can beat up on Myers, Blanton, and Moyer, we may be in good shape this series.
