<description>I wouldn't categorize the Braves as "probably" trading Teixeira, not yet. Six games back is the gray area where making that call is difficult. If they Braves are six back at the deadline, my gut says they won't trade him, not with the middling NL East probably requiring 85 wins to grab the championship. For all their inconsistencies this season, the Braves are one six-game streak, or one 7-out-of-9 stretch, away from being right on the doorstep of first place. Trading your cleanup hitter who is one of the best defensive first baseman in the game and who is on pace for 30 homers and 115 RBIs would make no sense if you're close.

The Braves have been abysmal in one-run games (5-22 after last night, and we all know about their 24 consecutive one-run losses on the road, a major-league record). Injuries have rocked this team unlike any squad I've seen in 30 years of watching and covering ball. Still, they've found a way to stay in the hunt, partly because of the crappy division in which they play.

If the Braves are 10 back at the deadline, Tex is a goner, for sure. But there is no guarantee that they will backslide much further than they are right now, which makes the decision all the more troublesome for Frank Wren and Co.

<description>Kuroda was sensational last night. Granted, the Braves offensively have been anything but consistent this season. Still, Kuroda had a dream night last night. I counted three pitches out of his 91 that he missed location with, including the Teixeira double in the eighth (Martin set up down and in, but the ball stayed up and Tex turned on it).
